Michael Binnion,
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Binnion is one of the founding shareholders of Questerre and has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Questerre Energy Corp., since November 2000.
Mr. Binnion has been actively involved in the financing and executive management of numerous private and public companies over the last 16 years through his investment company, Rupert's Crossing Inc. Mr. Binnion served as the President and a Director of Terrenex and its predecessor from October 1995 to April 2008. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Flowing Energy Corp., a junior exploration and production company, from June 1996 to December 2001 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2004. He served as the President and Chief Financial Officer of CanArgo Energy Corporation, an independent exploration & production company from 1997 to 2000. From 1992 to 1997 he was Executive Director of Crossfield House Inc., a private merchant banking firm. From 1992 to 1998 he was a minority shareholder and manager of a private investment company that held interest in commercial real estate and golf courses. Prior thereto he was Manager in the High Tech group at Clarkson Gordon, a division of Ernst & Young, specializing in tax-assistant financings. Mr. Binnion served as Chairman of the Board of Sylogist Ltd. from March 2000 to February 2002. He has been Director of Sylogist Ltd. since March 1997. He served as a Director of Magnus Energy, Inc. from March 4, 2005 to November 2007. Mr. Binnion serves as an Independent Director of High Arctic Energy Services Trust.
Mr. Binnion is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Alberta.
John Brodylo,
Vice President, Exploration
Exploration Manager since March 2001 and Vice President, Exploration since January 2004. Mr. Brodylo has over 20 years experience as a geologist with medium to large energy companies.
Mr. Brodylo's career has focused on both development and exploration activities primarily in Central Alberta. He has been responsible for independently generating prospects, conducting large-scale regional studies and geological mapping integrated with the work of geophysics and petrophysics. He was employed by Draig Energy Ltd. as exploration geologist from June 1998 to March 2001. From 1995 to 1998, he was employed by Pan Northern Resources Ltd. Prior thereto, he was employed by Samedan Oil of Canada Ltd. Mr. Brodylo was previously employed by Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd. as a exploration geologist in domestic and international operations from 1989 to 1993.
Mr. Brodylo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Calgary.
Peter Coldham,
Vice President, Engineering & Operations
Mr. Coldham has been Vice President, Engineering and Operations since December 2005. A petroleum engineer, he has over 24 years of experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary basin with both multinational and junior companies.
Mr. Coldham's career has been broad in scope with responsibilities in all aspects of hydrocarbon exploration, production and refining. He has worked in almost all parts of the hydrocarbon value chain with responsibilities ranging from VP Business Development/Exploration to responsibilities in the Supply and Scheduling group at a refinery. A generalist, he has a strong business background with significant experience in Business Development and Evaluations.
Mr. Coldham was employed from 1982 to 1998 with Chevron Canada where he held positions ranging from drilling and completions, exploration engineering, through to assignments in Chevron's Burnaby refinery. From 1998 to 2001, he was employed at Dynegy Canada Midstream where he was gained extensive experience with gas plants, sour gas development and regulatory procedures. He then consulted briefly prior to his most recent employment as VP Business Development (responsible for Acquisitions and Exploration) at a private junior oil company, Fortune Energy Inc., from April 2002 to November 2005.
Mr. Coldham holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Calgary. He is a registered Professional Engineer with APEGGA in Alberta.
Jason D'Silva,
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. D'Silva has over 13 years progressive experience in corporate finance and management of primarily junior public companies. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer and is one of the founding shareholders of Questerre.
Mr. D'Silva was employed by Terrenex and its predecessor from 1995 to 2008 and has been actively involved in several of its investee companies including Flowing and CanArgo. Prior to his employment by Questerre, Mr. D'Silva was employed by CanArgo as Corporate Compliance Officer from 1998 to 2000.
Mr. D'Silva holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Utah State University.
Paul Harrington,
Vice President, Finance
Mr. Harrington has been Vice President, Finance since October 2008.
He has over seven years experience most recently as Director, Financial Reporting with Zargon Energy Trust where he played an integral role in the financial and corporate accounting areas including corporate acquisition integration. Prior to Zargon Energy Trust, he worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Calgary where the majority of his time was spent auditing upstream oil & gas companies.
Mr. Harrington holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and has a CA designation.
Basim Faraj,
Vice President, International
Basim obtained his PhD (1995) on organic and inorganic geochemistry and cleat mineralization of the Permian coals in the Brown Basin from the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis (CMM) and the Earth Sciences Department of the University of Queensland, Australia.
Basim has many years of experience in the geochemistry, mineralogy and exploration of unconventional reservoirs (tight sands, coalbed methane, shale gas and hybrid plays) in Canada, US, Japan, Middle East and Australia.
In 2002, Basim led a team that completed the first shale gas study in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin for the Gas Technology Institute. Basim chairs the Annual Canadian Annual Shale Gas Conference (from 2005onward), organized by the Canadian Institute. Basim has been at the forefront of coal bed methane research and exploration since his work with BHP Coal in Australia and the University of Queensland. He has also worked as a Shale Gas and Coal Bed Methane Consultant for several energy companies in Calgary.
Areas of expertise: shale gas and coalbed methane exploration. Petroleum geochemistry, scanning electron microscopy, clay mineralogy, cleat and fracture characterization and biogenic hydrogen generation.
Basim is a member of the CSUG technical committee, AAPG and SPE.
Ian Nicholson,
Western Canada Manager
Mr. Nicholson has been managing and developing core areas of Western Canada for Questerre since November 2006.
Mr. Nicholson has over 25 years experience as a senior exploration geologist for numerous Canadian companies and has focused primarily in the core areas of western and southern Alberta. From July 2005 to September 2006, he served as exploration manager at Valiant Energy Inc. where me managed and explored opportunities in the Western Alberta Basin. Previous to that, he served as exploration VP with Canstar Exploration Ltd. from January 2002 to June 2005 developing exploration strategies, generating drilling prospects, and purchasing land and seismic for medium-risk, multi-play areas. Mr. Nicholson has also worked for Beau Canada Ltd, Kerr McGee Canada Ltd., and Co-Enerco Canada limited as senior and lead exploration geologist between 1983 and 2000.
Mr. Nicholson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Alberta. He is also an active member of APEGGA, CSPG, and AAPG in Alberta.
Maria Rees,
Corporate Secretary
Ms. Rees has been Corporate Secretary of Questerre Energy Corporation since November 2000 and served as controller from 2000 to 2006. She was Controller and Corporate Secretary of Terrenex Acquisition Corp. from 1995 to April 2008 as well as a Director from November 2000 to April 2008. Ms. Rees previously served as Vice President, Business Administration, and Corporate Secretary & Controller of CanArgo Energy Corporation from 1998 to 2000.
Rick Tityk,
Vice President, Land
Mr. Tityk has been Vice President, Land since November 2005.
He has over eleven years experience most recently as the Land Lead with Hunt Oil Company of Canada Inc. where he played an integral role in expanding both the exploration and developmental plays Hunt had within Central Alberta, Northern Alberta, the Foothills, and NE British Columbia. Prior to Hunt he was a Landman with Star Oil Gas Ltd., Calpine Canada Corporation and Encal Energy Ltd. where he was responsible for the initiation and negotiation of numerous transactions.
Mr. Tityk holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Petroleum Land Management and Accounting from the University of Calgary. He is also an active member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
